After graduating from Bunka Fashion College, Murata worked for an apparel manufacturer as a planning designer. In 1997, she joined a patterner Kumi Sugihara in making clothes. This association led to the establishment of H.P. FRANCE¡Çs own brand io in 1998, which has extended to all shops in the H.P. FRANCE group and select shops around the country. Opened a street shop in Omotesando, Tokyo in the fall of 2001. Debuted at the Tokyo Collection in the fall of 2002. Released a collection, io yukomura¡ÉTa in the fall of 2003.
