Graduate of Tama Art University in Graphic Design. Joined D'URBAN in 1980 and became Chief Designer for INTERMEZZO. Received The Department Store Buyers Award / Best-selling Award for four consecutive years. Founded his own design studio MA-JI MASATOMO in 1985. Debuted at Tokyo Collection in 1986. Established MASATOMO Inc. and debuted his Paris collection in 1992. Became Creative Director for INTERMEZZO Spring / Summer Collection and won The Department Store Buyers Award / Comeback Award in 2002. Received The Department Store Buyers Award in 2003, 2004 and 2005. Became Creative Designer for ROCHAS in 2006.
