Fashion and Culture of
"Cool Japan"
||How the world sees it||
Japan is attracting worldwide attention. Via the late-19th-century
Japonism and 1980's so-called "**Black Revolution**",
the world's eyes are again set on this far east land for the third time.
This multi-faceted country is widely known for its own Street Fashion,
Otaku, Manga, Animation,
Films, Literature - What is it that the world sees through its eyes ?
In the midst of today's global movement, this symposium will be held as a
Japan Fashion
Week in Tokyo kickoff event, aimed at transmitting the originality
of the Japanese fashion and other cultural contents spontaneously.
This project is also directed towards reenlightening the Japanese industries
as well
as the Japanese general public on the Japanese culture and its value, which
tend
to be rather overlooked or underrated.
We would like to suggest that we should discover the key to creating a
better future
not in chasing after the West but in exploring our own culure and values
that we have long developed.
We sincerely hope that this symposium will help produce new Japanese fashion
icons or concepts and contribute to their success. |
