Graduate of Setsu Mode Seminar. Founded Atelier Hanai in 1964. Opened her own boutique Madam Hanai in Ginza, Tokyo in 1968. Won the noted Fashion Editors Club Award for 1973. Renamed the company Hanai co., ltd. in 1984. Has worked extensively in various fields and created many pieces of work such as ballet and film costumes. Has been designated several positions on the board of Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. Member of Japan Association of Corporate Executives.
